Transitioning Home
I had mixed feelings on the first day I came home from the hospital. I was happy to be finally out of the hospital but the second I came through the doors of my house I realized how different life truly had become. I had so many medical complications over the past few months while in the hospital that I was unsure if my house would be adequate for my medical needs. Luckily my Rehabilitation Hospital did a great job of educating me and my family to be prepared for certain situations that might arise. It is crucial, when transitioning home, to be prepared for daily living and for any medical complications. Your Rehabilitation Hospital should focus on educating you for your transition home.
I feel my best healing occurred when I came home. Even though I had mixed feelings, the transition home was definitely a turning point. It was a much better environment and allowed me to live a much more productive lifestyle, which helped greatly with my mental transition.
