Creating Goals
Determined2Heal Tips:
Being goal oriented is a major factor in living a productive life, especially with a spinal cord injury. Creating goals helps an individual focus on something productive rather dwelling on their injury. I try to stay as busy as possible so that my mind does not dwell on what I can’t do but rather focuses on what I can do.

There are certain universal goals that all individuals with spinal cord injuries need to participate in. Developing a do-able schedule around these universal goals is the key to developing a productive lifestyle. The doable schedule needs to be put into perspective based upon the importance of each goal.
Breaking the goals down into small, medium, and long-term goals gives an individual an understanding of the importance of each goal and stresses a timeline for each goal.
Universal Goals:
-
Exercise program
-
Education
-
Job world
-
Eating habits
-
Hobbies
-
Social life
-
Family life
Being on a specific schedule, truly allows a productive lifestyle to be developed. Also, breaking your daily schedule down by the hour helps to create a more productive lifestyle.
