Occupational therapy is an applied science with a focus of developing, maintaining, or regaining functional skills.  An occupational therapist works with an individual to develop skills for daily living.

Determined2Heal Tips:

  • Develop a occupational therapy program with a trained occupational therapist based upon your individual goals and the rehab facility’s goals

  • Bring a video camera to record your occupational therapy program

  • Try to use the skills you learn during occupational therapy daily

  • In order to develop the best occupational therapy program it is important for an individual with a spinal cord injury to go to the best possible rehabilitation facility in their area.

Why is Occupational Therapy Important?

Occupational therapy is a great educational program that works to expand and develop skills of daily living.  An occupational therapist is a trained professional that works with an individual in all areas of daily living.  Occupational therapy has helped me to learn how to function daily with my spinal cord injury.
